Presenting a 13-DVD series from the creator of VeggieTales, Phil Vischer! Each DVD is filled with original music, animation, puppets, and creative writing that will teach kids about God and his Word. The first DVD introduces kids to the Bible and the book of beginnings, Genesis. Kids will learn about the key people in Genesis and the important lessons their stories teach us. Approximately 45 minutes.-from their website
I was recently sent a trailer to the new dvd series by Phil Vischer, called What's In The Bible. Volume 1 in called - Genesis: In the Beginning, and volume 2 is called - Exodus: Let My People Go. Each video will be in stores starting March 2010 and will retail at christian retailers for $14.99 each.
My older girls and I sat down to watch this together. I can't wait to see the whole thing! It looks like a really fun way for children to learn more about what is in the Bible. The trailer is very short, but what we saw was fun puppets, and singing, along with questions about the Bible. Phil Vischer was the creative mind behind Veggie Tales, and my kids love Veggie Tales, so I know they are going to enjoy these videos as well.
Look for the first two videos of the series starting in March!
***Disclaimer*** I was not paid for this post, I was sent a dvd trailer to preview. All comments made are my own opinion, your opinion may be different. Thanks to Tyndale for sending me this copy.
Are you a person who likes schedules? I am! I love everything to be scheduled ~ before the move we had a time line for each part of our day, and we pretty much stayed on target for each thing. I even have my laundry days scheduled- Monday, Wednesday and Friday. My younger two kids have an internal clock that wakes them up at 7 a.m. no matter what time they go to bed.
Here is a time line of what are days used to consist of:
Breakfast and chores are done and school starts right at 9 a.m.
Lunch is at 12 noon- the kids get a hour break from school. Baby goes down for her nap at 12:30.
Older kids go finish school starting at 1. Dinner is at 6 p.m. And bedtimes start around 7:30- all kids are in bed by 9 p.m. That was before the move- now that we are in transition and still living with family, my schedule has flown out the window- and it's driving me crazy!
I am not one of those people that likes to just wing it- I like to know what's going on so I can plan!
What type of person are you? Scheduled or No Schedule
I would love to hear back from you~ please share what works for you and your family.
Shushybye ~where dreams are made. This series was designed to encourage preschoolers to look forward to bed time, also knows as Shushybye Time. Their are Shushybye books and lullabies for nightime, and the Shushybye TV show, rock songs, and toys for the whole day.
Shushybye is a land where dreams are made by the Shushies- Snoozles, Dozie, and Zeez. They live in villages named Nap Valley, Snore Shore, Slumber Heights, and Yawn Island. Children give their dream wishes to the Shushies, and the Shushies make their dreams as the children fall asleep. Shushybye can be found on BabyFirst TV and Comcast Video on Demand. There is a series of books with CD, as well as music, toys, dolls, and videos. They will also be on tour in select cities, you can go to their website and see if they will be in your city this summer.
We were sent a copy of The Shushybye Sleepover Surprise book with read along CD, as well as a copy of the Close Your Eyes music CD. The book is a lot of fun, bright colors, as well as a fun story line. We listened to it and my kids really enjoyed the story as well as the music.
I later listened to the Close Your Eyes CD, it is not your average preschooler's music, and I wanted to listen to it before my children. The music is upbeat, with a variety of genres such as rock, blues, jazz, latin and country. This particular CD is a bit too upbeat for my kids, but they do have other CD's which might be more our style. I wish we had the ability to watch one of their shows on TV, but we don't have Comcast or get the BabyFirst channel.
Win it!
Shushybye has offered one of my readers there very own copy of a Shushybye book.

I recently bought the Lavender Lab from Cloud B for my youngest daughter. Ever since we have been in transition with the move she has not been a good sleeper. I contacted Cloud B about doing a review, and was given a percentage off one of their products. I choose the Lavender Lab (he is currently on sale). I have to say I was really impressed with how big he was. The pup is super cute, and soft, best of all it is filled with lavender to help promote sleep.
From their website:
Nestled inside Lavender lab's plush head and back are packets filled with our exclusive blend of Lavender and aromatherpy scents which produces a gentle aroma that lasts up to five years. Made with the softest Velboa fabric, Lavender Lab is designed to help children sleep easier with its relaxing scent as the all natural sleep benefits for Lavender have been time tested and scientifically proven.
Simply squeeze Lavender Lab then place on child's pillow or bed during the day to absorb its gentle scent. When it is time for sleep, move Lab to bedside and enjoy the wonderfully soft lavender aroma that helps them float away into a peaceful slumber. To release additional scent, gently squeeze Lavender Lab's head or back.
The Lavender Lab came in a small mesh net gift bag, and is attached to a soft, silky purple blanket that the lab sits on. This would make a great baby shower gift, or just to give to your own child. My daughter wouldn't cooperate for a picture, but my son gladly posed with the Lab.
***Disclaimer*** I bought this product, I was given a discount by Cloud B. All statements made are my own, and I was not influenced in anyway. Thanks to Emily at Cloud B.

I have 4 children that are ages 1 through 8. It is getting harder and harder to make them all watch the same type of programming.
The one year old is not interested in t.v. so she is not really a problem. My three year old is a t.v. addict, but that is a topic for another day.
The problem is the older two, who are 6 and 8, don't want to watch Dora, and Noggin anymore. We don't let them watch a lot of different channels. We do not watch Hannah Montana or any of those types of shows. Pretty much the only cartoons allowed are what's on PBS or Noggin. Since being at my parents house they have been sneaking some of the old cartoons, like Tom and Jerry, Scooby-doo etc.
I don't think I am being wrong in wanting to protect them from the garbage on television, but yet I want to be fair too.
They do get to watch a few shows such as 19 Kids and Counting, some cooking shows on TLC and the Food Network.
So the question is what do you let your "older" kids watch, and how do you keep the balance between the older kids and the younger kids and what they get to watch and not watch?
Love your Heart is the newest children's book written by Tim McGraw and Tom Douglas. The story:
Katie wants to be in the school talent show, but can't decide what her talent is. Katie practices cartwheels, whistling, juggling with her dog, Palio, and singing. Still she can't decide. Then on the day of the talent show, her friend Sophie, is seen by Katie, crying. Sophie has hurt her hand and can't do her part in the talent show. Katie decides that she will help her friend, Sophie. Katie shows that being kind and helping her friend are more important that doing her talent in the show. And no matter what her father loves her and who she is.
This is a great book that teaches children the art of being selfless and showing kindness. It is beautifully illustrated as well as written. Perfect for little girls.
I would definitely recommend this to any one with little girls. My daughters ages 6 and 8 really enjoyed the story.

How much TIME is to much when it comes to blogging? I have been thinking about this a lot lately. Am I spending to much time in blogger land? I really enjoy looking at new blogs, entering giveaways, and writing my own posts. But at what cost? Am I ignoring my children and hubby?
Here's the thing though- it's the only thing I do outside of taking care of the kids, homeschooling, laundry, dinner, cleaning- you get the idea! Right now this is my only "me" time. I rarely watch T.V. anymore, I haven't scrap booked in ages (about 2 kids ago). Is it "wrong" to have a "me" time activity?
I used to only blog during nap time and after the kids went to bed. Then with the move, we are still living with my parents, though that is soon about to change- we are renting a 2 bedroom condo soon (more on that later), my schedule has been a bit more relaxed, so I have a little bit of extra time, and blogging has become addictive. I try to have my reviews and posts done in advance, and I do not post on weekends, but still I wonder am I spending too much time blogging?
My question to you is: How much time do you spend blogging? Do you have a schedule? Any ideas, or advice?

If you remember one of my goals for the year 2010 is to lose 20 pounds. About 3 weeks ago my hubby and I decided to sign up for a family membership to the YMCA. I was really excited, mostly for the kids, so they would be able to sign up for activities. I was also glad that they had a nursery, and that the younger two kids would have someplace to go, if I ever decided to enter the gym.
You may ask, why do I hate the gym? It's so intimidating. I hate going into a place where I don't know anything about the equipment. I hate seeing all the people who are already in shape, and I am not. What if I don't know how to work the equipment? What if I am not dressed right? Yes, I worry about that. I am not buying silly little work out clothes!
Anyhow, we went two days in a row- it was really nice. The first day, I only walked the track- but I did two miles! The next day, I asked my hubby to show me how to use this machine that looked like fun- it wasn't! I really hurt after that~
Then reality hit- we are currently 35 minutes away from the Y, and by the time I get all four kids around, and work around our school schedule, I am not in the mood to go to the Y.
Hopefully when we get settled into our rental we will be closer and that will help me want to go. We had a week of the nasty bug, and we were all sick. But I am happy to report I have lost 8 pounds so far!!!
I hope to keep motivated as I really want to lose all my "baby" weight.
I would love to hear from you~How do you keep motivated in losing weight or in exercise~

My youngest daughter used to be the best sleeper in the world then our Christmas vacation to Nana's and the big move coincided all at once. Here's the problem- she won't sleep at all in a crib or pack-n-play or bed unless someone is laying down with her! It all started when we arrived at my parents house over Christmas. She would SCREAM forever well it seemed like forever. And the grandparents couldn't bare to hear her crying so they would put her in their bed. Then she wouldn't take naps, so someone would lay down with her. Then my hubby and I had to leave the kids for 2 weeks so we could finish packing up our stuff in Texas, meanwhile baby girl refused to sleep unless someone was laying down with her. I get back and try try to "fix" the problem. Since she wasn't sleeping in the crib, we took it down and put up the pack-n-play. The little stinker figured out how to climb out of it- NONE of my other children EVER climbed out of the crib or pack -n- play. So now I am stuck co-sleeping with my 19 month old. It's horrible, really, why any one would enjoy sleeping with their children is beyond me! I can't sleep for fear of rolling over on her, or that she might get caught under the covers, etc. What am I to do??? I am tired, and I would like to get her back to being the good sleeper that she was. Any suggestions?
Today we celebrated 100 days of school~ It did not go as planned. I had made cupcakes, and bought craft stuff, invited a couple of their friends over to celebrate with us, and then we got hit with the stomach bug. So we canceled everything, and just did school, and then I let the kids make some craft stuff. Oh, and the cupcakes~ well my littlest little monster knocked them off the counter and they ended up on the ground~ so Hurray for 100 days of school-only 70 more to go!
