In January of this year I wrote about my goals for the year. One of my goals was to lose weight. It is now mid-April and I am four months into my journey. I have lost a total of 14 pounds so far. At first my goal was to lose 20 pounds, but I have moved that to 30 pounds- just about half way there! I am not overweight, but having 4 kids in 8 years does something to one's body, and I want my old body back!
You may be wondering how am I doing it? There are several things- diet and exercise!
We joined the YMCA- I love that they have a child watch program for all my kids. My older girls get to go play in the Adventure Room, which they love, and the younger two go in the nursery- they also like it, but they love the Adventure Room more. So four times a week I am getting my exercise in and some "free" time away from the kids!
As for the diet, I am not dieting, I am changing my eating habits. When we lived in Texas we ate out alot- I mean ALOT, several times a week, plus the kids and I would go to Chick-fil-a for lunch a few times a week- they don't have Chick-fil-a here in New York (sigh) so we are not eating out as much. Also I have cut back the soda (another goal). Dr. Pepper is my favorite drink, they don't serve it here in New York very often, and they have a dumb tax on sodas, so I am being cheap and not buying it. This has really helped me with unnecessary calories, as I was drinking probably 3 glasses a day of soda, now it's water, water, water.
So there you have it, diet and exercise - the key to me losing half of what my goal is for the year 2010. Now my only problem is my clothes aren't fitting, and I hate shopping, and now I just may have to go to the store *sigh*.
If you made goals for the year I would love to hear what they are and how you are doing!

Stopping by from @usfg Blog Directory...no Dr. Pepper in NY? I might die!
funny thing... my goal right now is to eat as much as I can! {of healthy food} so I can produce all the breast milk possible for my two babies (2 mo and 15 mo). I am not exercising much (other than chasing small children around and hefting car seats/groceries) but I hope to soon once my baby starts on solid foods... such an adventure.
Woohoo - great job!! :)
I'm trying to lose the same amount of weight by doing the same things! So far stopping the eating out has been the hardest.
Happy SITS day!
I hear ya, SITSta!
Keep up the great work- I'm over here doin' it, too.
:)
Congrats on your day!

Great job on the weight loss! And hooray for diet and exercise! I always cringe when I see ads on television about losing weight with no effort. Whatever!
Way to go on the weight loss. My husband and I watch our calories and workout!! I have lost 11 so far and he has lost 21!!! Keep up the great work:)
I've lost about 10 pounds lately by counting calories.
I cut out sodas, like you. Other than that, I eat pretty much like before, just much smaller portions. I stay away from fried foods for the most part, too. (with a few exceptions)
It's awesome bc I'm losing weight and I don't even feel like I'm dieting.
16 pounds! congrats!
Losing weight is SO difficult sometimes -- but YOU *can* do it... and you have the foundations in the right place! Keep on! :)
Happy SITS day (again)! :)
Congratulations on your success thus far! That's awesome!
I have about 35 to lose and I keep trying and trying and do well for a while, then fall off the wagon. I'm trying to get back on the wagon, but I think it hates me.
But I have given myself until Dec 31 to lose it!
By golly, I'm gonna do it!
I walk, mostly. With sprints of jogging. I have a paid membership at a gym, which I seldom use. Smart, huh?
I use SparkPeople.com which is an amazing resource! Check it out, you'll love it! (tell 'em JAVAQUEEN74 sent you!)
And a tax on soda? Are you freaking kidding me? That is SO ridiculous!
Thanks for sharing all these fabulous posts with us!
Happy SITS day!

Congratulations! Keep up the good work! Sorry you are going to have to go shopping. You could always do it online to save yourself the store.

Cutting out soda is a big help and a big step. I drink diet only when I'm out and about. I never buy it for the house. Just wish they'd have Diet Coke with Splenda more readily available. I can't handle all the sugar in soda.
Fantastic progress! I'm starting a diet to lose 100lbs. Love success stories.
Congratulations on the weight loss & Happy SITS Feature Day!
I'd like to lose a few pounds myself & eat healthier in general. Exercise more & eat less/better, the old tried & true & healthiest way to go!
