My love-hate relationship with the gym.....

If you remember one of my goals for the year 2010 is to lose 20 pounds.  About 3 weeks ago my hubby and I decided to sign up for a family membership to the YMCA.  I was really excited, mostly for the kids, so they would be able to sign up for activities. I was also glad that they had a nursery, and that the younger two kids would have someplace to go, if I ever decided to enter the gym.
You may ask, why do I hate the gym?  It's so intimidating.  I hate going into a place where I don't know anything about the equipment. I hate seeing all the people who are already in shape, and I am not.  What if I don't know how to work the equipment?  What if I am not dressed right? Yes, I worry about that.  I am not buying silly little work out clothes!
Anyhow, we went two days in a row- it was really nice.  The first day, I only walked the track- but I did two miles!  The next day, I asked my hubby to show me how to use this machine that looked like fun- it wasn't! I really hurt after that~
Then reality  hit- we are currently 35 minutes away from the Y, and by the time I get all four kids around, and work around our school schedule, I am not in the mood to go to the Y.
Hopefully when we get settled into our rental we will be closer and that will help me want to go.  We had a week of the nasty bug, and we were all sick.  But I am happy to report I have lost 8 pounds so far!!!
I hope to keep motivated as I really want to lose all my "baby" weight.
I would love to hear from you~How do you keep motivated in losing weight or in exercise~

I need to lose 20 lbs too. It's so HARD. I think we would love a Y membership too but they've always been just so expensive I've never given it much thought.

8 lbs is awesome! Keep up the great work!

Hey Brodie! I am right there with you working on my 'baby' weight too from having Whitleigh. It isn't easy. I like to push myself though. Try setting small goals to accomplish and to strive to achieve instead of focusing on the big goal and only trying to reach that. 8 lbs. is awesome! Keep it up! Breanne

I joined a gym a couple of miles from my house. I really like it. They have a nice nursery and its clean. Remember when we joined the generic Curves in Fredericksburg?? Adrian will kill me if I don't go this time and I waste that money each month. I go with a good friend and we have a good time while we tourture ourselves! Don't be initimidated! You have to start somewhere. Ask for help. I have learned to use the machines and the weights and I am loving it. I really like to take music to listen too, it makes the time go faster. Goodluck!
