Skin MD ~ review and giveaway - CLOSED

How's your skin?  I had dry, itchy skin, due in part to moving from the warm south to the cold north.  I also suffer from thyroid problems which makes my skin dry. My kids also had dry skin because of eczyma. Notice how I said "HAD".  The reason my skin is feeling much better is because of a new lotion I have tried from Skin MD Natural.
From their website:
"If you've been looking for a skin care product that can heal dry skin and keep the ravages of time at bay, take a look at a breakthrough based on years of research by doctors and chemists - shielding lotion.
A Shielding Lotion is far more effective as a dry skin treatment than conventional moisturizing lotions or protective creams. If you suffer from dry skin, you know that just using a moisturizing lotion doesn't solve the problem."

"A shielding lotion does much more than just treat dry skin – it’s a new kind of skin care product that makes a real difference to all skin types.
Skin MD Natural™ utilizes the finest effective natural ingredients for dry skin treatment along with the latest advances in technology to hydrate and protect the skin.
This is an entirely new concept in skin care requiring a new classification: "Shielding Lotion". A shielding lotion keeps moisture-robbing irritants away from the skin while the proprietary "super" humectants hydrate the skin throughout the day."

Skin MD also comes in a SPF 15, which is great for those who live in the sunnier regions.  I have been using the Skin MD naturals on my 4 kids and myself.  Here are a few reasons why I like it:
  • No animal products or testing
  • Dermatology tested
  • Fragrance and colorant free
  • Hypoallergenic
  • Paraben free
  • Non-comedogenic

You can purchase Skin MD Naturals on line through their website. You can also type in your zipcode and it will show you what retailers carry Skin MD. The cost is Skin MD Natural - $18 for a 4oz bottle which will last 1 to 2 months. The Skin MD Natural +SPF15 -$25 for a 4 oz bottle also lasting 1 to 2 months with daily use.  This can be bought is bulk as well.

Skin MD Natural has offered one of  you , my readers a full size bottle of lotion. Here's how to enter:
1. Mandatory entry: Visit Skin MD Natural and tell me something you learned.

Who's been sleeping in my bed?

On Monday my husband and I had to go away overnight.  Since he was at work, I was the one who got to check in to the hotel.  After getting the keys, and dragging the suitcases up to the elevator I finally found our room.  I walked in and stopped, something didn't look quite right.  There was a cup on the sink, so I said Hello?
Nothing, so I walked a little bit farther, the bathroom door was open, the light was on, and a towel was on the floor.  I started to get nervous, and walked into the next room, the bed had been slept in -thankfully no one was in it!  I called the front desk, and then I had to drag my stuff all the way back down stairs and get a new room~ thankfully this time it was a clean room and no one was in my bed!  I felt a little like Goldilocks and the Three Bears!

Some Tips when buying or selling a home

If you have been following my blog very long, you will know that "big" things have been going on in our family. If you are new to my blog you can check the back links here and here. The short story is we have moved from Texas to New York, though we aren't in New York yet, but staying with my parents until we sell our house. Yes, that's right the four kids, myself, and my hubby have invaded my parents house~ we must sell our house!
With all that being said, I thought I would share some tips dealing with selling or buying a home.

If you are going to be selling your home here are a few things to remember:
  1. Take it down! You are going to be moving anyway, so get it off the walls and pack it up.
  2. Clean, Clean, Clean~ nobody wants to go into a dirty house. (When we were looking at houses, it was amazing that people didn't clean up before we went in.  Trust me nobody wants to see your dirty underwear on the floor~ yes, I actually went into a house, and had to step over the dirty clothes!)
  3. Leave the house when someone is coming for a showing~ nothing is more awkward then meeting the seller of the house!
If you are going to be buying a home here are a few things to remember when going through homes.
  1. Be on time! Nothing is more irritating than having a scheduled showing and the people being late or even early.  I had people show up an hour before they were supposed to be there, as well as an hour after the appointment was scheduled.
  2. Do NOT let your kids go crazy in someone else's home- it's not yours yet!  Don't let them eat food in the house when on tour! I do not enjoy cleaning up your kids cheeto's~after I spent all day cleaning it!
  3. Do NOT use the bathroom~ someone used ours, and I knew this because the man left the toilet seat up~ yuck!
Well those are the things that have irritated me these past few weeks~hopefully our house will sell soon and we can go to part 2~ building our new home!

Curious Chef~ Review and Giveaway - CLOSED

"When adult size cooking utensils are too big and toy utensils too small, Curious Chef® comes to the rescue with utensils and gadgets that are just right for kids to cook up all their favorite recipes."

Do your children love to help out in the kitchen?  My older girls love to be able to help, but I am always afraid they will cut themselves, or the products aren't made for kid size hands.  Not any more~ now my kids can use their own products to help out in the kitchen thanks to Curious Chef.

Who They Are

"The inspiration behind Curious Chef® was truly an “aha” moment for us. Here we were, parents of little ones, struggling to find cooking utensils that our children could use in the kitchen. We had plenty of adult-sized utensils, gadgets, and cutlery sitting around our kitchen cupboards, but none that fit our kids’ hands just right. That is when we knew we were on to something big.

Why not create a whole line of kid-friendly utensils for small hands? As professionals in the housewares industry, we knew we had the experience, expertise, and capabilities to design real kitchen utensils for the children we loved. To keep the products kid-centric, we incorporated the elements of safety and vibrant color throughout our entire line. We wanted children to truly have their own set of kitchen tools and accessories so they could get excited about the cooking experience itself. In no time at all, we knew they would be gathering at the kitchen counter to concoct their very own edible creations; becoming budding chefs in the making!"

Curious Chef has lots of different products for children, so that they too can
help in the kitchen.
We were sent the Fruit and Vegetable peeler to try out.  It works very well,  it has an ergonomic handle for small hands, and is made with stainless steel, soft touch button grips, and is dishwasher safe.  This item is a real cutting tool, and is sharp.

WIN IT!
The Curious Chef has graciously offered one of my readers the 5-Piece Pizza Kit!

Heroes

Do your kids like sports? Who do they look up to in the sports world? I honestly don't want my kids to look up to sports players, because one there aren't very many to look up too, and second their priorities in life leave very little to be desired. But if you stop and think about it kids have their favorite players, and most of these players are going to "fall", and then comes the disappointment.
The reason I ask is because lately all their is on television  is the fall of sports players. I was thinking how do you explain to your kids all the junk that these "heroes" are going through. Don't get me wrong, these men and women bring it upon themselves, and I don't condone any of the stuff that is going on in the sports world.
I personally am a college basketball fan~ college sports are the best to watch because the kids play to win, and for the love of the game, not because they are getting paid obscene amounts of money to play a game.

Here is a side note that deals a little with sports players~ it's a youtube video of Britt Hume's take on Christianity and Tiger Woods.  Hope you enjoy it~

What would you do?

Yesterday, I took my son to Chick-fil-a (if you don't know what that is, it's only the best fast food place ever.)  Any how he was in the play area with a bunch of kids, all whom we did not know.  There was about 4 or 5 older kids, ages 7-9 I would guess, and then a group of kids  ages 3-5.  Now this one boy was a little on the smaller side, but boy was he something.  He kept throwing stuff at the older kids who would then through it back at him.  I was keeping an eye out, becuase I knew what was coming and didn't want my son involved.  Pretty soon the little boy decided it was time to go running to Mom, and sure enough he told his Mom loud enough for me to hear, that the big kids were throwing stuff at him, and bothering him.  Now here is the part I was uncomfortable with, the Mom asked me, if things were getting out of hand in there.  Mind you , I am watching this through the glass,  I told her yes, things were getting a bit rough in there.  But what I wanted to say was your kid is the one causing the problems! But I didn't, and she went and yelled at the big kids, who blamed her son, who denied it.  See where this going?  Somebody is a big time trouble maker who's momma thinks he does know wrong!  Would you step in?  Should I have said something?  I didn't want to get in the middle of it~somehow I don't the child had ever been told he did wrong~
This went on for awhile~ the kids would start playing, and the little "monster" would go running to his mom, who would come tell everyone to stop bothering her little boy.  Never once realizing that maybe, just maybe there was more to his little story.
Aren't children amazing?  Aren't Mom's amazing? wink, wink~ so what would you do? Seriously, to get involved or keep minding your own business?
We left as soon as I could convince my son it was time to leave, and honestly I probably will never see these people again (hope she's not a reader of mine), but isn't it amazing how parents and kids act!

 From the Walkabye website :
The Walkabye Terrani is available as a complete 'Infant to Toddler' package. The Infant to Toddler package comes with a both an infant bassinet and a toddler seat that you use with the Terrani's high quality frame.
For the first 6 months of your child's life, you will use the large comfortable infant bassinet. Your baby will have plenty of room to spread out and enjoy the plush bedding made from 100% cotton fabric and a padded mattress. The bassinet features a large canopy, and comes with accessories like a matching apron, a matching diaper bag, a changing mat and a rain cover.
Once your child is able to sit up on their own, you may start using the comfortably sized toddler seat. The toddler seat reclines to 3 different positions, and features a 5 point safety harness, hold bar, and a large canopy. Also included is a matching footmuff to protect against the weather.

What I liked:

  • I loved the all terrain wheel, and suspension.  It really makes pushing the stroller a breeze.

  • I also loved the adjustable handle bar- this works great for those that are on the tall side, like me.

  • I love all the color choices they have to offer, I really wanted pink, but my husband did NOT want to be pushing a pink stroller.

  • I love the idea of the bassinet, though I don't have a little one small enough to use it, I love the idea behind it.

  • This stroller was super easy to assemble~I did it by myself in under 20 minutes.

What I didn't like:

  • You have to take off the front wheels to close it.  It is not a stroller to throw in the back of your car and take out all the time.    I will keep mine in the garage and use it for walking, that way I don't have to take it apart. That's it~ I really liked everything else about it.
